We will be using the same spelling words this week and next week. Mrs. Goeders and I realize that this week's words are challenging and that many of our students will benefit from having an extra four days to practice them. As such, homework will not be collected until next Thursday, November 10th. There will not be a spelling test this week.
Here are some reminders from the Marshall Scholars:
1. AR tests can only be taken at school.
2. We want to get at least 10 points each quarter because you have to have 10 points in order to go the AR store at the end of the quarter.
3. Read for at least 30 minutes each night! It'll make you a better reader.
4. If reading is hard for you, then start small! Mrs. Marshall told us to check out picture books on our reading level every time we go to the library. If you read books worth 0.5 points, they'll eventually add up to 10 points! Don't get big thick books that are too hard for you to read. You WON'T get the AR points if you don't pass the quiz!
Next week's spelling words are:
Have you guessed what we're studying next week yet? You've got it!!! FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE! We'll be using popular music to study each type of figurative language listed above. Mrs. Goeders and I are SO EXCITED!! We can't wait to kick this unit off!
If you want to experience the fun of figurative language with your student, please visit the following site: www.quizlet.com. Search for 'figurative language'. And ENJOY!
Next week's spelling words are a compilation of the most commonly missed spelling words from this quarter.
Gem Mining Experience has been rescheduled for April 20, 2017
This is our onsite field trip.
Spelling Words for the week of October 17th
We received so many requests for the extra time with the spelling words that we've decided that it's a great idea to post them here on Fridays instead of Mondays! That gives our students extra time to study over the weekend. Thanks to everyone who sent emails requesting the change!
Next week, we'll be studying the 13 colonies in Social Studies. As such, we thought that it would be a great idea to have a Social Studies-themed spelling word list! The spelling words can be found below:

We were very pleased with the probes that our students turned in! Many of them have been asking when they would get another chance to do a probe and the time is NOW!
This time around, students may choose what they want to do for their probe as long as it is appropriate for school. If you have any questions about the assignment, please contact your student's reading teacher.
