The spelling test for this set of words will be given on February 10th. The homework will also be due that day.
point of view
Dear 4th Grade Parents,
During the last two quarters of the school year, we will be using each set of spelling words for two weeks. Mrs. Goeders and I recognize that the words are getting longer and more complex and we want to create a culture of success for our students so we are going to give them an extra week with each set of spelling words. This means that they will also have two weeks to complete their homework. We also understand that some students will work hard the first week so that they can have “no homework” during the second week. Please rest assured that there is never a “no homework” week in 4th grade! If they complete their spelling homework before the due date, they should still be reading their AR books for 20-30 minutes every night in an effort to meet their 10 point AR goal for the 3rd quarter. If you have any questions or concerns, please be sure to contact either myself (email@example.com) or Mrs. Goeders (firstname.lastname@example.org).

First, I have to apologize. I forgot to send the flyer home on Friday with the rest of the Friday folder things so that's why you're getting a flyer today for a meeting that's on Tuesday. :-(
Our 4th grade is participating in WCPSS's Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) intiative. Before we begin implementing this in our classrooms, we are having a parent information night on Tuesday, January 17th at 5:30 pm. It is so important that you complete the pre-survey because we need to know what type of devices our students will be bringing in so that we can plan accordingly before launch day. I've included a link to the form below for your convenience.
At the parent information night, a rep from the district will be there to talk about the initiative, we'll give you an overview of the rules and procedures for BYOD, apps your student will be using, and you'll sign a contract allowing your student to participate. We'll even be going through a sample lesson to show you how we'll be using the devices for instruction. Please make plans to attend. It will give you a chance to have your questions answered before launch day! Please be sure to return the bottom portion of the BYOD flyer so that we know how many people to plan for. Thanks!

It's time for our first probe of 2017!
Each student should choose a person, place, or event from the World War II era. Facts should be written in paragraph form instead of in a list. Please be sure to reveiw your student's probe for color, illustrations, a complete border, and spelling errors.
If you have any questions, please contact either Mrs. Goeders or Mrs. Marshall.
Happy New Year everyone,
I forgot to post the spelling words for this week before the break, so Mrs. Goeders and I will hold those words until next week. We've asked our scholars to engage in some informational writing for homework instead. Tonight, they should choose a topic to write about. Tomorrow night, they should write the body (including facts and details). I'll check it on Thursday and they'll have an opportunity to review their work. Thursday night, they should write the conclusion. The short essay is due on Friday.

Next week, we're focusing on the 'ie/ei' spelling rule!
