The probe is a monthly special project that allows our students to learn more about a topic that they choose (as long as it's related to the assigned theme). This month's theme is North Carolina so students can choose a region (Coastal Plain, Mountain, or Piedmont), a landmark, or a state symbol to research for their first probe. The probe explanation letter and rubric were stapled to the front of their probe notebooks and should be brought home today. When a probe is assigned, the expectation is that it will take the place of the 20 minutes of reading homework (they should work on it bit by bit each night; we don't want to overwhelm anyone). The first probe is not due until September 30th. An example and the explanation letter are below.
